Geomembrane Vapor Mitigation Survey Report for Douglas Park, Long Beach CA

March 1, 2013

Design and Evaluate Cold Spray Applied with Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH) Geomembrane Vapor Mitigation System at Project Site.

As of October 19, 2007, Douglas Park Blocks 1,2,3,4 and 5 in Long Beach, California were a vacant graded property lying within the area of the larger former Boeing C-1 Facility; renamed Douglas Park for redevelopment purposes. The former C-1 Facility came under the jurisdiction of a Revised Cleanup and Abatement Order (Revised CAO) which was issued to Boeing by the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) on December 20, 2000. This revised CAO was an update to the original Cleanup and Abatement Order for the facility issued to Douglas Aircraft Company on November 29, 1995. A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (Phase I ESA) of the site had previously been completed by Iris Environmental which showed that historic activities conducted variously throughout the site by Boeing had impacted soil and groundwater.

Results from the methane survey completed at the Site confirmed the presence of methane at relatively low concentrations. However, the presence of methane at some locations at the Site required consideration during future building design to prevent the accumulation of methane in future buildings.
